On March 26, 2024, the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695) collapsed after a vessel strike. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) hosted a virtual industry forum for the rebuilding of the Key Bridge on May 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. During the forum, MDTA representatives discussed the anticipated Progressive Design-Build (PDB) Process with potential consultants, contractors and subcontractors to help inform the pending Request for Proposals (RFP). Information on how to become Maryland Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certified for this federal contracting opportunity was provided during the forum. The RFP is expected to be released by the end of May.

The MDTA is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of its programs and services on the basis of race, color or national origin, as protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Additionally, the MDTA is committed to providing opportunities for participation in our minority and disadvantaged business communities. Together, rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge will allow us to reflect MDTA's culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
